Praying God’s Promises Over Your Family

Written by David & Angie Benjamin, Contributing Writers

As we enter the New Year, new challenges are to come. Only God knows what is to come.

In our case many things have happened since we got married in May 2011. Life and Marriage are adventures!

You see, we got married in Mexico, and right after the wedding, we moved to Botswana to settle. 3 months later God showed us it was the time to start a family (as crazy as it sounds, God knows it all-Our plans are not His plans and our thoughts are not HIS!-Isaiah 55:8 ). So we fell pregnant and 9 months later a beautiful baby girl was born. From the day we married till our daughter was born we have lived in three different houses.

Long story short: 2011 we got married, 2012 our daughter was born, 2013 we’ll be moving to the UK and 2014 who knows!?…

It’s comforting and encouraging to know that the plans the Lord has for our lives and marriage are plans to give us a hope and a future –Jeremiah 29:11.

God in His word promises great things for our marriages and families. God´s promises for our lives are promises of guidance, and they will show you what to do to produce the intended result —>blessing.

We’d like to share some promises for you to declare throughout the year, maybe in your devotional time together :)

He Promises to Bless your Household

“There is no want to them that fear him. They that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing” (Psalms 34:9, 10).

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

He Promises Abundant Provision

“I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread” (Psalm 132:15).

He Promises To Keep You Safe Under Divine Protection

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Proverbs 18:10).

“I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved” (Psalm 16:8).

He Promises To Direct You

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalm 37:23).

He Promises to Bless Your Children

“Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!” (Deuteronomy 4:40; 5:29).

“A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).

“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge” (Proverbs 14:26).

“The seed of the righteous shall be delivered” (Proverbs 11:21).

We thank God for His word, and His Promises that are Yes and Amen! May the good Lord help us to grow in Him as we continue walking in His way, guiding our families!

Have a blessed year!
